A Celebrity Architect Designs Madrid's Latest Hotel, Conceived as a Narrative of Love

Arriving at Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas Airport, the warm Spanish tarmac serves as a welcoming escape from London's gloomy weather. Eager to explore Brach Madrid, Evok Collection's second luxury hotel outside of France, I make my way to its Gran Vía location. Built in 1922, the seven-story edifice houses Brach Madrid, one of the most sought-after design hotels of the moment.

Blending history and romantic mod design, Brach Madrid presents a sensory journey through its tasteful interiors and vibrant atmosphere. Stepping into the lobby, I immediately feel mesmerized by the design inspiration that permeates every corner. Each room, including mine, has been curated with intent, showcasing unique elements that foster a sense of home.

Nicole Constante, the Events Manager at Brach Madrid, explains the room arrangements, with every detail left purposefully, such as boxing gloves, weights, and musical instruments, all inviting guests to interact and engage with their surroundings. The unit anchoring the room, which includes a TV and a variety of items, is especially designed for play, inviting exploration and even potential purchase.

Philippe Starck, the man behind Brach Madrid's design, aimed to create a romantic atmosphere in each room. This is evident in the map around the bed and the writing on the walls, encouraging reflection on the passage of time and the experiences shared. The graffiti and integrated local history create a narrative of passion and heart.

One of the highlights is the bathroom, with its sunken tub, his and her shower wings, and ornate, regal green statement vanity that stands out. Suites like the Armando, Ernesto, and Antonio offer ample living space, perfect for hotel-bound hosting.

Privileged visitors can enjoy the view of the city from their private balcony, offering a picturesque perspective of Madrid's roofs when the weather is warm. Starck's design flair echoes through the communal areas, showcasing a fusion of magic, color, and texture without neglecting any detail.

Brach Madrid's restaurant features a pan-Mediterranean menu by chef Adam Bentalha, creating a serene atmosphere with dimmed lights and an impressive bar inspired by Spanish village cafes. The culinary experience rivals the world-renowned scene from Ratatouille, with dishes like cogollos con vinagreta de cítricos and atún rojo con pepino, chips de ajo promising an unforgettable gastronomic adventure.

Dessert connoisseurs will find solace at the hotel's patisserie, offering delectable desserts and pastries that encapsulate French confectionery at its finest. Whether starting the day with a sweet treat or ending it as a perfect dessert, there's no shortage of options to satisfy your cravings.

Lastly, La Capsule, the hotel's spa, is a sanctuary of wellness. Described as half mystical and half futuristic, the space offers an exquisite blend of holistic practices and state-of-the-art technologies, attracting visitors seeking a unique blend of relaxation and rejuvenation.

In all, Brach Madrid provides a romantic, designer escape blending Madrid's history with modern luxury. The hotel's unique features, including its rooftop and dining options, spa, and fusion of traditional and contemporary aesthetics, ensure an unparalleled luxury hospitality experience in the heart of Madrid.
