Artists Exhibiting at Schweinfurth's 2025 Annual Show Draw Inspiration from All Sources
In the heart of Auburn, NY, the Schweinfurth Art Center has opened its doors to an exciting exhibition, "Member Show 2025." This annual event, running from Aug. 30 to Oct. 11, features 127 pieces created by artists who are members of the art center.
The exhibition comprises a diverse array of artworks, including sculptures, paintings, photographs, fiber arts, and more. The show includes works by artists such as Sherry Allen, Peter Allen, Beverly Amborski, Adele Anderson, Nadia Andrews, Steven Assmann, Katherine Baca-Bielinis, Christopher Baker, Nancy Bales, Christina Bang, Victoria Bartling, Michael Baum, Deborah Bilinski, Helen Bishop-Santelli, Linda Blanding, Sharon Bottle Souva, Karen Bove, Carol Boyer, Frid Branham, and many more.
One of the standout pieces is "Maori Flame," a butternut wooden sculpture created by Oswego artist Carl Patrick. The sculpture's overall shape symbolizes the vigor of Maori society.
Another notable artwork is "Magenta Muerta," created by Rachel Ivy Clarke in response to Pantone's 2023 color of the year. Clarke used CDC data of weekly COVID-19 deaths between January and May 2023 to create this thought-provoking piece, which is part of her series using publicly available bargello designs derived from specific datasets.
Syracuse artist Melissa Montogomery showcases her ceramic vase named "Spring," inspired by her garden. The vase, with its delicate details, is a beautiful representation of the new life and growth that spring brings.
Local artists like Susan Mandl of Rochester, NY, created "Listen to Your Eye" in 2025, while Alia Sheikh of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, introduced "Pendulation" the same year. Other artists from the region, such as Michael Shoemaker, Linda Mikula, John Nyquist, Susan Murphy, June Szabo, Jean K. Stephens, Beverly Lay, and Denise Kooperman, also have pieces on display.
The exhibition also features works from artists outside of New York, such as J. Desy Schoenewies of Spearfish, SD, who created "Head in the Clouds" in 2024.
Visitors to the Schweinfurth Art Center will find a wealth of inspiring and thought-provoking artwork in the "Member Show 2025." Don't miss this opportunity to explore the creative talents of local and regional artists.
