Bremen and Bremerhaven Ports Struggle Amid Infrastructure Chaos

Bremen and Bremerhaven's ports face severe disruptions due to multiple infrastructure issues. A backlog in authorities has halted twelve transports in Bremen, while a closed railway bridge and road closures cause further chaos. BLG Logistics, employing 8,130 people in the region, steps in to help affected ports.

The railway bridge over the Hunte in Elsfleth has been indefinitely closed since a ship accident, halting rail traffic and impacting ports in Elsfleth, Nordenham, and Brake. Despite having a reliable rail connection to the double-track main line, the Neustädter Hafen in Bremen also feels the pinch. Meanwhile, the A27's closure between Bremen and Bremerhaven, due to a dilapidated culvert, forces BLG Logistics employees to take longer routes and face inconveniences. The suspension of the ferry service between Bremerhaven and Nordenham adds to the woes.

BLG Logistics has offered free capacities in the Neustädter Hafen to help the affected ports. However, the closure of the A27 has cut off major ports Bremerhaven and Cuxhaven from the hinterland, affecting customers in the high- & heavy sector. Frank Dreeke, CEO of BLG Logistics, stresses the importance of infrastructure investments for the country's future.

Twelve transports remain stranded in Bremen due to a permit backlog, while the Hunte bridge closure disrupts rail traffic and the A27 closure hampers road access. BLG Logistics' solidarity and the ministry's responsibility highlight the urgent need for infrastructure improvements to ease the burden on the region's ports and employees.
