British Airways Expands Avios Part-Payment Scheme for All Flights
British Airways (BA) has expanded its Avios part-payment scheme, now allowing Executive Club members to use their Avios to pay for any BA cash flight, regardless of seat type or route. This move aims to provide more choice and flexibility for members.
Previously, Avios part-payment was restricted to certain routes and timings. Now, members can use their Avios to pay for any BA flight, including those operated by American Airlines and BA codeshares with select partners. The more Avios a member has, the more cash they can save, up to £500.
To take advantage of this, members can make the most of their Avios through BA American Express cards and the BA e-store. For instance, to pay only £1 in cash for a flight worth £1000, you would generally need around 75,000 Avios or more, depending on the specific flight redemption rates and offers. Frequent travellers and Avios-rich members stand to gain the most from this new scheme. However, some experts suggest that the new scheme may not always provide the best value compared to standard reward fares.
BA Executive Club members can now pay for all BA cash flights using Avios for just £1. This expansion of the Avios part-payment scheme offers more flexibility, particularly for frequent travellers and those with a substantial Avios balance. Members can still collect Avios and tier points on flights booked using cash and Avios.
