The buzzing northern coastal province of Quảng Ninh, renowned for the breathtaking UNESCO-listed Ha Long Bay, has seen a 16% surge, welcoming approximately 500,000 tourists on April 30 and May 1. Among these explorers, roughly 200,000 gave the province a cozy overnight stay. And what's more, a whopping 44,700 of those overnight visitors hailed from foreign lands! The estimated tourism revenue swelled to a staggering VND1.33 trillion (US$51 million), marking a truly impressive 45% year-over-year increase.
The spellbinding Ha Long Carnival 2025, themed "Connecting Heritage - Pioneering Brilliance," definitely stole the show, gathering some 20,000 locals and tourists in the captivating Sun Carnival Square. Ha Long City welcomed 177,000 visitors, Mo ng Cái City opened its doors to 42,000, Uong Bi City saw 18,000, Va nam Đo District entertained nearly 31,000, and Co To District offered a warm welcome to no less than 11,500 tourists on May 1.

Meanwhile, the vibrant Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang played host to a grand total of over 143,000 domestic and international tourists during the two days. How's that for a celebration? The number indicates an astonishing 50% growth compared to last year. Tourism revenue coursed through the economy in the amount of VND458 billion, a significant 61% year-on-year surge.
Popular destinations in Kien Giang included Phú Quốc, Ha Tiep, Ho n So, and Nam Du Islands. It's worth noting that Phú Quốc Island alone hosted a whopping 63,425 visitors, accounting for over 44% of the province's total holidaymakers. Amid this Cambodian-style paradise, more than 10,800 of these visitors originated from foreign lands.
The intrepid visitors to Phú Quốc Island were treated to some one-of-a-kind experiences, like venturing beneath the waves for some underwater walking or joining in on pearl harvesting in Ra ch Vem. Others delighted in playing "golf on the sea" at the Dugong Bay tourist site in Ha m Ninh fishing village.
