Cruise ship resident discloses bothersome habit of passengers that leaves her dismayed
Christine Kesteloo, a content creator with nearly three million social media friends, spends at least six months of the year living on a cruise ship. Her husband, who works as a staff chief engineer on the same vessel, shares this unique lifestyle.
The cruise ship Christine resides on is home to only 1,400 guests, much smaller than mega cruise ships. This intimate setting allows for a close-knit community and personalised service.
Despite the common misconceptions about cruise ships, Christine clarifies that most of these myths are incorrect. The water on the ship is safe to drink, and the sanitation practices in place are designed to minimise the risk of germ transmission, particularly in buffet areas.
Enhanced cleaning and disinfection, hand hygiene stations, sneeze guards, and crew monitoring are some of the measures implemented to ensure the cleanliness of dining venues. Furthermore, passengers may take personal precautions, such as using sanitizing wipes and avoiding peak times, to further reduce exposure to germs.
Christine expresses her dislike for seeing guests go to the buffet directly after the gym without washing their hands. She emphasises the importance of maintaining good hygiene practices for the safety and well-being of all passengers and crew.
While living on the cruise ship, Christine has visited 109 countries, an impressive feat made possible by the ship's itinerary. Upcoming destinations include Greece, Norway, Canada, Australia, Hawaii, Vanuatu Islands, and Antarctica.
Despite the many advantages of living on a cruise ship, Christine misses certain aspects of life on land. She longs for the simple pleasure of driving, a reliable internet connection, family, and a Diet Coke from McDonald's. Her husband may retire in a couple of years, at which point they may return to dry land full-time.
In the meantime, Christine continues to create content and uses TikTok to help make a living after losing her job during the coronavirus pandemic. Her journey on the high seas is a testament to the adventurous spirit that drives many to explore the world and embrace the unexpected.
