Celebrating Vietnam's 80th National Day and the August Revolution: A Nationwide Spectacle

Vietnam is gearing up for a grand celebration to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution on August 19 and the National Day on September 2. The celebration will be marked by a series of events, including major groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies, cultural exhibitions, performances, and special programs highlighting Vietnam's achievements and heritage.

Nationwide Infrastructure Projects

Eighty simultaneous groundbreaking and inauguration ceremonies will take place across the country for significant infrastructure projects. These ceremonies, coordinated by the Prime Minister and Ministries, will be connected by a nationwide live telecast on August 19, with both in-person and online participation.

Cultural and Artistic Programs

Major cultural and art programs, especially in Hanoi, are also on the agenda. Special art and political shows like “Under the Glorious Flag,” “The Homeland in Our Hearts,” and “Hanoi – From the Historic Autumn” will be presented. A grand military parade, mass rallies, and a large-scale exhibition will showcase Vietnam's national achievements over 80 years, focusing on political, economic, cultural, social, defense, and security progress since the August Revolution and the Doi Moi reforms.

Free Entry to Cultural Sites

As part of the celebration, cultural sites across Vietnam will offer free entry during the National Day holidays, enhancing public access to museums and heritage places.

Celebrations Involving Overseas Vietnamese

The celebrations will also involve overseas Vietnamese, who will participate in events and dedicated activities promoting the Vietnamese language abroad. This includes training for language teachers, contests, galas, and appreciation days, symbolizing the strong ties of the diaspora to the nation.

Artistic and Festive Events in Hanoi

Hanoi will transform into a vibrant spectacle with numerous programs catering to diverse interests, contributing to the nationwide celebratory atmosphere.

Special Exhibitions

The Việt Nam National Museum of History will host an exhibition called Bình Dân Học Vụ -- Thắp Sáng Tương Lai (Mass Education Movement -- Lighting up the Future) on August 22. Other exhibitions include Mùa Thu Độc Lập (Independence Autumn) and Mùa Xuân Độc Lập (Independence Spring) at the Hồ Chí Minh Museum, and Hồ Chí Minh - Portrait of a Man at the Việt Nam Fine Arts Museum in HCM City.

Free Puppet Shows for Children

The Việt Nam Contemporary Arts Theatre will present nimble puppet shows on water for the public, particularly children, during the free admission period. The puppet shows will be free for visitors on September 1-3.

The Central Party Committee's Directive

The policy, directed by the Central Party Committee member and Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Nguyễn Văn Hùng, aims to educate people about the country's achievements and promote Vietnamese culture to the world.
