Departure of Leav Aviation takes place from Erfurt, heading towards Rhodes and Heraklion.
The Airport Erfurt is set to experience an exciting expansion in its flight offerings, as Managing Director Susanne Hermann announced a partnership with Lufthansa that includes new destinations for the summer of 2026.
Beginning July 6th, 2026, passengers will have the opportunity to book flights to Rhodes, a new destination in Lufthansa's summer flight schedule from Erfurt-Weimar Airport. This new route will operate twice a week on Tuesdays and Fridays, with flights provided by Leav Aviation.
In addition to Rhodes, Lufthansa will also offer flights to Heraklion on Crete, a popular destination from Erfurt. Flights to Heraklion will run from July to late October, operating on Mondays and Thursdays.
The addition of Rhodes and Heraklion to Lufthansa's route network from Erfurt-Weimar Airport represents a significant expansion of the airport's offerings, according to Hermann. She stated that these two offers lay a foundation for cooperation with Lufthansa and simultaneously expand the offer from Erfurt.
Hermann also mentioned that bookings for these flights are now open. Passengers can book their tickets with Lufthansa or through tour operators. However, she did not specify the exact dates for the Rhodes flights beyond July 6th, 2026.
It's worth noting that this partnership does not appear to affect the existing flight schedule for either Rhodes or Heraklion beyond the addition of new flights starting July 6th, 2026.
Lufthansa's inclusion in Erfurt-Weimar Airport's route network starting summer 2026 is expected to provide more travel options for passengers, making it easier to explore destinations like Rhodes and Heraklion. With these new routes, the airport aims to cater to the growing demand for travel and offer a diverse range of destinations to its passengers.
