Discover captivating spring trails with our detailed guide on our website
Hey there! I'm Jaclyn Cosgrove, your friendly outdoor guru hailing from the L.A. Times. You know, the gal who traverses the picturesque landscapes of Los Angeles and beyond to find the ideal hikes, campgrounds, and other exhilarating outdoor activities for you. I pen Between a Rock, where we share monthly survival tales, and The Wild, our free weekly newsletter that features the crème de la crème of L.A. adventures. Okay, I may spend a tad too much time in the great outdoors, but who's keeping track, right?
So, how does hiking with me sound? Fancy a rendezvous this month? The L.A. Times is arranging its fourth subscriber event at 9 a.m. on May 24. It's a thrilling 3.5-mile jaunt to Sycamore Canyon Falls, tucked away in Point Mugu State Park. Fingers crossed the recent rainfall ensures the waterfall is still gushing for our enjoyment!
Want to be a part of the action? Just sign up below! Keep in mind, we'll be winding our way through the Santa Monica Mountains starting at Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa, and then entering Point Mugu State Park. This means pooches can't tag along for this hike. (Trust me, I'm as disappointed as you are!)
Expect a lively gathering of around 30 subscribers at the falls. We'll snap some photos, share a nibble or two, and revel in the beauty of nature together. Fair warning: this hike is rated moderate, so don't forget your sturdy footwear. I'll likely bring my poles to tackle those tricky bits, and I strongly encourage you to do the same.
Don't fret about parking—it's a breeze! Just park at the Wendy Trail Head and join us at the start of the trail. We'll provide water bottles, but feel free to bring your own as well. To join us, you'll need to be an adult and sign a waiver prior to the event. Grab your spot at Tixr.com!
