This Saturday, once again, the Wittgenstein Agricultural Circle Association will be hosting the Stünzel Festival for the 185th time.

Eagerness building in Wittgenstein's circle

Let's Get Down with the Stünzel Farmer's Bash!

Mark your calendars for Sat, June 14, 2025! The 185th Stünzel Fest, also known as the Kreis Agricultural Association's Animal Show, is roaring back in the Wittgenstein region. Since its inception two centuries ago, this shindig has been a bustling hub for farmers, breeders, and regular folks, hosting the largest public festival in ol' Wittgenstein.

A Family-Friendly Extravaganza

Kick things off bright and early—seriously, we're talking 7 AM! Animals from "peep-squeaks" like rabbits and poultry to mighty steeds like horses and cattle are carted to the festival grounds. At 8 AM, the critters compete while the judges sip their coffee, and by noon, it's showtime with the grand opening. At 2:30 PM, the main event—the animal presentation—takes center stage. With a whopping 382 animals this year, according to Daniela Schubarth, the association's top honcho, there'll be no shortage of furry (and not-so-furry) friends!

The Newblood Rodeo

It's fantastic to see a spike in young guns stepping up to the plate, with 39 fresh faces itching to show their farming chops this year. Compared to last season's 28 youthful participants, these eager beavers are brimming with enthusiasm. "From horsin' around with horses to milkin' it with dairy and beef cattle, these tenderfoot breeders are proving they're the future of agriculture," Schubarth shared. The association commends the young stars for their gumption and passion!

The Crowning Moment

Ain't no party like a livestock bash, with awards galore! Last year's "Mrs. Siegen-Wittgenstein" title belonged to Olivia, a lovely Jersey cow, leaving Stella, a miniature zebu cutie, and Emelie, a steamy Limousin heifer, to share the glory. "Mr. Stünzel" was crowned by the suave Kester, a handsome red Highland bull. It'll take a real barn-stormer to snatch those coveted titles this year!

Ride, Eat, and Rejoice!

Sure, there's lots of hoof-stompin' and awards dishes to savor, but don't forget about the carnival rides, live tunes, and regional market! A mobile milking station is this year's must-see attraction, where you can make your cheeky "udder" comments while witnessing the milking process firsthand!

To ensure everyone's safety, the festival's security concept has been upgraded, and a new movable barrier will block unauthorized vehicles from crashing the party. Animal welfare is at the top of their list too; shade structures will be provided to help the critters beat the heat!

More Than a Barn Dance

The Stünzel Fest transcends the average animal show; it's a social hall, a competitive exchange, and a whole lotta fun! The ultimate blend of tradition and modernity keeps the festival fresh, ensuring it'll have you rollin' in the hay each year! Don't be a Richard Dreyfuss in "Close Encounters"––come and show your support at this year's soiree!
