Park Inn by Radisson Davao Launches Sustainable Fashion Project Tela Tales
Park Inn by Radisson Davao recently launched the Tela Tales sustainability project, an initiative that transforms condemned hotel linens into fashionable and marketable items. This innovative project links the hospitality sector with local artisan communities, reducing hotel waste and promoting a circular economy.
Spearheaded by Chef Leah Magallanes, the project saw a partnership with Dars Juson, co-founder of REPAMANA, a Manila-based label known for upcycling discarded textiles into fashion. The debut collection was produced by a women-led community group called Think Outside the Trash, symbolizing sustainability, craftsmanship, and local creativity.
The first Tela Tales collection includes a vanity kit, tote bag, and bucket hats, all made from repurposed hotel linens. The project aims to create a circular economy connecting hospitality and local communities, reducing linen waste from hotels and supporting local craftsmen.
The event, which was a Kadayawan festival celebration, also featured standout local brands Ayla Pearls and Bina Batik. Ayla Pearls showcases authentic South Sea pearls in jewelry, while Bina Batik revitalizes traditional Southeast Asian textiles with modern silhouettes.
In addition to the fashion show, Park Inn by Radisson Davao introduced two stay packages for those who wish to celebrate Kadayawan in style. The Davao Getaway stay package starts at PHP 7,888 per night and includes various benefits, while the Kadayawan Weekend Bliss package starts at PHP 10,088 per night and includes additional perks such as a PHP 1,000 Skin Manila voucher for the first 30 bookings.
Moreover, fifteen percent of proceeds from each Tela Tales item sold will benefit Malamba Elementary School - G. Astilla Sr. Cultural Minority High School. The school will receive funding for art supplies, educational materials, and essential resources.
VANDA Restaurant also joined the celebration by offering a Kadayawan-themed Boodle Fight for PHP 4,550 and Kadayawan buffets on August 15, 16, and 17.
Park Inn by Radisson Davao invites locals and travelers alike to experience the rich culture, creativity, and community spirit of Kadayawan with their unique offerings. By choosing to stay or dine at the hotel, guests can support sustainable fashion and contribute to the socio-economic development of the local community.
