Expanded Seating Spots Unveiled in Brunnhartshausen and Steinberg by Wanders

In the heart of Germany's Rhön UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, a series of sustainable hiking developments have been introduced, aiming to provide a harmonious blend of tourism and conservation. The most recent project, titled "Wander's Ruh," has created three new covered seating areas, offering visitors a chance to rest and immerse themselves in the reserve's stunning landscapes while minimizing environmental impact.

The project, a collaborative effort between the municipality of Dermbach, the Thuringian administrative office of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön, and other local partners, has seen the creation of these resting places in and around Brunnhartshausen and Steinberg.

In Brunnhartshausen, a covered seating area with an interactive information board about "Beetles and Bugs" has been erected at the "Platz der Generationen." Meanwhile, in Steinberg, a new seating area offers shelter, relaxation, and a breathtaking view over the "Land of Open Distances." An accompanying information board offers orientation and information on sustainable hiking in Steinberg.

The resting place in Steinberg was built exclusively by volunteers from the small village, with basalt stones for the foundation coming directly from the village itself. This local involvement reflects the project's commitment to engaging communities in sustainable regional development.

Steinberg, a central starting point for major long-distance hiking trails such as the Premium Hiking Trail DER HOCHRHÖNER®, the Eisenach-Eisenacher-Haus-Weg, and the Rhön-Höhen-Weg (RHW) and HSN, now provides an additional welcoming rest stop for hikers.

The seating areas were supplied by Herrmann Massivholzhaus GmbH, with the municipal building yard of Dermbach supporting the professional installation of the two other new destinations. Special thanks were given to Thomas Schmidt of the Herrmann Massivholzhaus company and the many diligent helpers who contributed to the project.

Markus Gerstung, the local mayor of Brunnhartshausen, expressed pride in the regional effort of the 'Wander's Ruh' project. Ulrike Schade, director of the Thuringian administrative office of the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Rhön, highlighted the relaxation and deceleration benefits of hiking in the reserve, encouraging visitors to take their time and appreciate the area's natural beauty.

These new resting places offer a wonderful view into the 'Land of Open Distances' and invite visitors to linger and observe local flora and fauna, ensuring that the Rhön UNESCO Biosphere Reserve remains a haven for both hikers and nature alike. For more specific information about "Wander's Ruh," it might be necessary to consult local tourism boards or environmental organizations directly involved in Rhön's conservation efforts.

The "Wander's Ruh" project, in collaboration with local partners, has expanded the home-and-garden of the Rhön UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, with new seating areas created in Brunnhartshausen and Steinberg. These areas, furnished by Herrmann Massivholzhaus GmbH, are not only a haven for hikers seeking a restful retreat but also serve as an educational hub for travelers to learn about the local flora and fauna, immersing themselves in the lifestyle of the region's outdoor living.
