Floral Masterpieces Exude Elegance
In the heart of the Dutch flower industry, Decorum stands as a beacon of premium quality, sustainability, and innovation. Decorum's offerings are carefully curated by a select group of growers, including Bernhard Planten and Duijn-Hove, who specialize in certain varieties, dimensions, and colours of Phalaenopsis, a popular orchid variety.
Phalaenopsis, known for their striped or speckled blooms, come in a variety of colours such as purple, pink, salmon, white, and yellow. These orchids are not only visually appealing but also versatile, making them a favourite among florists.
Decorum's commitment to quality extends beyond Phalaenopsis. They also collaborate with Villa Curcuma, the only Dutch grower specializing in Curcuma cut flowers. Villa Curcuma's greenhouse mimics a tropical climate to suit the flower's Thai origin, and they harvest flowers ranging from 55 to 75 cm in length. Seven varieties of Curcuma are available from week 1 to week 40, with the white Curcuma being a particular favourite. In fact, a notable floral artist, Joseph Massie, created an inspiring white Curcuma centerpiece. Interestingly, the white Curcuma for Massie's work were cultivated in Suriname.
Villa Curcuma focuses on high-quality, biologically-grown flowers with a long vase life. This commitment to sustainability is shared by other growers associated with Decorum. For instance, Janity Flowers produces 13.5 million spray Chrysanthemums of one specific variety annually, while Oudijk Gerbera specializes in top-quality mini Gerberas, offering over fifty Germini varieties. Two varieties of large-flowered Gerbera grown by Villa Gerbera are the spider-like variety, Spider, and the stuffed variety, Power Ball®.
The collaboration between these growers and Decorum provides florists with a diverse range of flowers, inspiring them to create unique, sensory-pleasing floral arrangements that can help craft lasting memories. Whether it's the exotic allure of Phalaenopsis or the vibrant hues of Curcuma and Gerbera, Decorum's offerings are a testament to the Dutch flower industry's commitment to quality, sustainability, and innovation.
