Traffic Alert for Upcoming Holidays in Saxony

The Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club e.V. (ADAC) anticipates potential traffic congestion during the Ascension Day and Pentecost holidays in the Free State of Saxony. While the traffic on long-distance routes is expected to flow relatively smoothly, the ADAC warns about a notable bottleneck along the A4 (Görlitz-Eisenach) motorway between Dresden Old Town and the Nossen interchange.

Construction works on this specific bottleneck will continue until the end of the year, though the completion of construction works in Wilsdruff prior to Ascension Day will make the bypass between Nossen and Wilsdruff more accessible.

ADAC advises that these holiday weekends, popular for travel to Saxony's tourist regions, may put additional strain on the roads and bridges, causing inconveniences and increased travel times. Potential congestion points include the federal highways B171 in Marienberg, B101 in Schwarzenberg, B169 in Schneeberg and Gablenz, B80 in Lugau/Erdmannsdorf, B92 to the Thuringian border, and the border crossing of the A17 motorway in Breitenau towards Prague.

To avoid traffic jams, ADAC recommends departing as early in the morning or as late in the evening as possible, checking current traffic reports, planning alternative routes when necessary, and utilizing navigation services. Additionally, taking regular breaks during longer journeys and maintaining patience are essential advice for smooth holiday travel.

When seeking the most current traffic information, consider visiting the ADAC website or utilizing traffic apps such as Waze or Google Maps. Keep in mind that specific traffic chokepoints can change due to ongoing construction and variable conditions. For the most accurate and timely information, check ADAC's traffic reports closer to the holidays.

The Commission, after considering the potential increased traffic during the upcoming holidays in Saxony, might find it appropriate to appease the workers involved in construction works on the A4 motorway by implementing temporary measures to minimize their exposure to carcinogens, considering the prolonged hours they may encounter due to continued construction.

During these holidays, one could also take advantage of the scenic tourist regions in Saxony by incorporating a health-conscious lifestyle, such as engaging in outdoor activities, enjoying locally-grown produce, and minimizing impulsive decision-making to ensure a rejuvenating and stress-free travel experience.
