Honorary Lieutenant Title Awarded to Heribert Welter at Prince-Garden Kempen

Heribert Welter, a respected member of the community, has taken on a new role as an honorary lieutenant. The official inauguration ceremony will take place at the Kolpinghaus on January 10th. This appointment comes as a delight to Welter, who was previously a passive member of the Prince's Guard Kempen since March 2000.

Welter's new role is not his first foray into leadership. He is also the master of St. Marien Hüskes Krone and the chairman of the support association St. Josef. In addition, he serves as a member of the church council and the examination committee of his guild.

Welter's dedication to service extends beyond his local community. Alongside his friend Markus Dohmen, he started the Ukraine aid project in 2022. So far, they have conducted 39 trips with aid supplies, a journey that takes about 20 hours by car and trailer.

Despite the long hours and potential delays at the border, where Welter often waits between 4 to 8 hours, he remains committed to helping those in need. He expresses concern over the increasing suffering of the people in Ukraine and hopes for a quick end to the war.

Peter van der Bloemen, chairman of the Prince's Guard Kempen, is optimistic about Welter's harmonization with his predecessors. During the summer meeting of the honorary lieutenants, Welter was introduced to his predecessors, many of whom he knows from other associations.

In the past, Welter has taken on various roles during major events. He has provided the driver service for the guards during 'All Fools under one Hat' and regularly participated with his shooting brotherhood St. Marien Hüskes Krone Schmalbroich in the Rosenmontag parade.

However, Welter did not participate in the carnival as an active guard this year, as his focus remains on the Ukraine aid project. The project, which he and Dohmen started, has made a significant impact, and they continue to work tirelessly to help those affected by the ongoing conflict.
