Singapore Tops Henley Passport Index 2025 with Visa-Free Score of 193

The Henley Passport Index 2025 has ranked Singapore as the most powerful passport in the world, boasting a visa-free score of 193. This index, which looks at 199 passports and 227 destinations, is a valuable resource for global citizens and the standard reference tool for government policy in the field of international travel. It uses statistics provided by the International Air Transport Association (IATA).

The index reveals that Indian passport holders can now travel visa-free to 59 countries, an increase from 57. This marks a slight improvement in the mobility of Indian passport holders, as India has moved up eight places from last year and eleven over the past decade, now ranking at 77th.

Meanwhile, the United States passport has slipped from ninth last year to tenth this year, with access to only 182 destinations. The United Kingdom has also seen a drop, slipping from fifth to sixth position, and passport holders can access 186 countries.

On the other end of the spectrum, Afghanistan holds the least powerful passport with access to only 25 countries without prior visa. Syria and Iraq follow closely, with 27 and 30 destinations, respectively. The index ranks these countries, along with others with limited mobility due to political instability or international relations issues, as the 10 least powerful passports in 2025.

The Indian passport has seen a significant improvement since 2006 when it reached its best performance on the Henley Passport Index, ranking 71st. Japan and South Korea are ranked in second place, with a visa-free score of 190.

The Henley Passport Index provides clear and reliable information about how easily people can travel around the world, making it an essential tool for global citizens seeking to navigate the complexities of international travel.
