Islamabad International Airport Shutdown Confirmed for Eight Days by Officials

During Pakistan's Independence Day celebrations in 2025, Islamabad International Airport will experience scheduled flight pauses to accommodate Pakistan Air Force (PAF) air parade rehearsals. These pauses are designed to ensure safety during the rehearsals.

From August 6 to 9 and August 11 to 14, flights (arrivals and departures) will be suspended daily from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM PKT. Additionally, from August 11 to 13, there will be an extra suspension from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM PKT. Each suspension window lasts approximately two hours.

Outside these periods, the airport will operate normally. Passengers are strongly advised to check their flight status with airlines in advance due to these temporary pauses.

It's important to note that there is no truth to rumours suggesting that the airport will be closed for eight days during Independence Day celebrations. The flight pauses are only temporary, during specific days, to allow PAF fighter jets to rehearse for the Independence Day flypast.

A Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been issued, advising airlines and pilots to exercise caution during the rehearsals.

The 'Emirates loves Pakistan' event in Dubai will extend Dubai Metro timings on August 10, coinciding with the Independence Day celebrations in Pakistan.

The temporary closures are intended to ensure traffic safety during the period. Apart from the mentioned timings, flights at Islamabad's airport will operate as usual.
