Landslide Blocks Mata Vaishno Devi Battery Car Service, Forcing Yatra to Use Alternative Path Instead

Heads Up, Devotee! 🔥

The Himkoti track leading to the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine in Reasi district, Jammu and Kashmir, has come to a grinding halt thanks to a massive landslide caused by torrential rainfall on June 23rd, 2025. This slip-up occurred close to the Satya View Point on the Himkoti route, leaving more than 30 feet of the new track buried under mountains of mud, stones, and debris.

Luckily for all, there weren't any souls on the route when the mother nature decided to play her wild games, so no injuries were reported. The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board sprang into action, rerouting pilgrims to the good old uphill path instead. Rest assured, the yatra has been flowing like a river with minimal disruptions for the visitors.

Due to the misfortune, battery cars services that typically assist elderly, disabled, and other pilgrims, are stuck in park mode until the path is checked and deemed safe. The region, as you might guess, has been caught in a monsoon delight, and authorities are keeping a hawk-eye on the situation to ensure the safety of the countless visitors attending the revered shrine daily.

The shrine board is pulling out all the stops to scrub the track clean and get the battery cars back on the road ASAP. The new Himkoti route, unfortunately, will have to take a chill pill until conditions improve. On the flip side, helicopter and cable car services have also hit a snag due to the weather and the landslide impact.

To break it down:

🔺 The Himkoti route (new) is undergoing repairs due to a landslide.🔺 Battery car services on the Himkoti route are temporarily grounded.🔺 The Shrine Board is working on repairs to reinstate the battery car path.🔺 Pilgrims are being directed to the classic traditional old route, which remains unaffected.🔺 Helicopter and cable car services are also currently wisps in the air.🔺 Not a single case of damages reported in the incident.

The situation is being monitored like a hawk, and the reopening of the Himkoti route will depend on the Shrine Board and disaster response teams successfully cleaning up and ensuring safety.
