Latvia's Tourism Booms in 2025 with Record Arrivals and Nights Spent
Latvia's tourism sector has seen a robust start to 2025, with notable increases in both resident and non-resident arrivals and nights spent. The capital, Riga, and the coastal city of Jurmala remained the most popular destinations.
From January to April 2025, Latvia welcomed 652.6 thousand Latvian visitors, marking a 9% increase from the same period in 2024. Resident arrivals in April alone totalled 76.1 thousand, up 8.1% year-over-year. These residents spent 126.9 thousand nights at establishments, a 6.9% increase from the previous year.
Riga was the top choice for both resident and non-resident visitors, accommodating 33.5% and 79.1% of them respectively. Jurmala followed closely, hosting 11.1% of residents and 6.4% of non-residents. The total nights spent by all visitors reached 342.1 thousand, a significant 12% increase from the previous year.
In terms of non-resident travellers, the greatest number came from Lithuania, with 15.8 thousand visitors, closely followed by Estonia with 14.2 thousand. The ten most important countries of origin for non-resident tourists are not specified for the period.
The first four months of 2025 have shown a strong performance in Latvia's tourism sector, with significant increases in resident and non-resident arrivals and nights spent. Riga and Jurmala continue to be the most popular destinations, with residents and non-residents alike choosing these cities for their visits.
