Alpine Bus in Munich Introduces New Innovations for WhitMonday Celebration - Mountain bus services in Munich introduce updates from Pentecost, featuring novel innovations.
Get ready for some stunning Alpine adventures, because starting this Pentecost, the Munich Mountain Bus is back and ready to roll! Now, alongside weekends, you can embark on thrilling journeys to popular destinations on public holidays too.
Good news for travellers from Munich! With the Germany ticket, hikers and city dwellers can traverse towards the Alps without worrying about any additional costs! However, regular MVV ticket rates apply if you don't have a Germany ticket in hand.
The 2025 season will commence with improved schedules, extending from the Pentecost holidays right up to All Saints' weekend in early November. You'll also find enhanced information for passengers, making the journey even more hassle-free! 👍
Some of the exciting destinations you won't want to miss include royal castles in the Allgäu. On weekends and public holidays, the lines will serve places like Pfronten in the Ostallgäu, Bayrischzell, and Thiersee in Tyrol. Each line will operate a total of two round trips daily. If you'd like to secure a seat, feel free to book for free via the MVV app!
Did you know that the Munich Mountain Bus lines have been a part of the MVV family since last year? This project was initially launched in 2021 by the German Alpine Association, with funding now coming from the city of Munich, the districts of Miesbach and Ostallgäu, and the state government, which helps cover operating costs not covered by ticket sales.
Last season, more than 7,000 day-trippers enjoyed exciting Alpine journeys on the mountain bus lines. The most popular spots were the Tegelberg cable car near Neuschwanstein Castle and the Gasthof Bäckeralm in Bayrischzell on the Austrian border.
