Muslims in Rochdale Prepare for 22-Day Charity Mountain Hike During the Holy Month of Ramadan

In the blessed month of Ramadan, set to start on Thursday, March 23, Jamshed Miah, a Rochdale resident, is embarking on a remarkable journey. Miah is trekking in the Annapurna range of mountains in Nepal, a testament to his determination and resilience.

Miah, who holds a degree in Art and Design and a Masters in Graphic Design, is no stranger to challenges. He is a freelance guide for Peak Adventures and the Muslim Hikers group, and recently led a group of over 120 participants on a residential weekend organised by the Muslim Hikers group.

This year, Miah's trek holds a deeper significance. He is dedicating it to his parents who passed away over the past two years, his father in 2021 and his mother in 2022. The funds raised from his trek will be used to provide food, shelter, and medical assistance to those in need, in cooperation with Global Relief Trust (GRT).

The funds will be utilised in countries that GRT works in, including Syria and Lebanon. Miah believes that every little bit of donation counts and will bring them closer to making a positive impact on the world.

Ramadan, the holiest month in the Islamic calendar, is a month where the rewards for all good deeds are multiplied. Generosity and charity are especially blessed during this month in Islamic Shari'ah.

Another inspiring story comes from another Muslim, Cherno Jagne. Jagne plans to run 150km this month to raise funds for Afghan refugees, enabling them to rebuild their lives in the UK and the US. However, specific details about this individual are not available at this time.

Last year, another individual announced plans to run through 23 cities in 23 days during Ramadan for charity purposes. Unfortunately, the identity of this person could not be confirmed from the provided search results.

Miah's trek serves as a reminder of the spirit of giving and perseverance during the holy month of Ramadan. His journey is a testament to the power of determination and the impact that one person can have on the lives of many.
