In Yakutia, Regional Round of All-Russian Folklore Competition "Kazachiy Krug" Completed
The regional phase of the nationwide folklore event, "Kazachiy Krug" (Cossack Circle), has drawn to a close in Yakutia. Over 200 performers from various districts, including Viluysky, Lensky, Namsky, Tatyshsky, Ust-Maysky, Ust-Yansky, Hangalassky, Olekminsky, Yakutsk, and Zhatai, took part in this year's competition.
organizers mentioned that the event was held remotely, with participants submitting their performances as videos for evaluation by a well-informed jury. The competition welcomed artists of varied age groups, ranging from six-year-olds to adult and mixed ensembles with no age limit. The contestants offered a glimpse into the enduring heritage of the Cossack culture, passed down throughout generations.
Following the assessment, the "U Nadya" folklore ensemble from Petropavlovsk in Ust-Maysky district bagged the first-degree laureate award in the "Folk-Ethnographic Ensembles" category. The "Yermak" Cossack class of school No. 1 in Zhatai earned first place in the "Folk-Stage Ensembles" nomination among the children and youth ensembles. The dance studio "Sozvezdiye" Cossack class "Iсток" in Zhatai became the first-degree laureate in the "Dance Ensembles/Performers" category for age groups six to eighteen.
In the adult division, the "Folk-Stage Ensembles" nomination was won by Nadya Kamaltynova, a soloist from Yakutsk. she will represent Yakutia in the subsequent Far Eastern stage of the competition, also held online.
This regional competition, an embodiment of cultural richness in Yakutia, emphasizes preservation and promotion of traditional folklore across the country, whilst eliminating geographical barriers through remote participation.
The competition's focus on traditional folklore extends to cultural-travel, as the diverse lifestyle exhibited by performers offers a glimpse into the Cossack heritage and Yakutian culture for those who travel, either virtually or physically.
