Radisson Hotel Group to Expand Portfolio in Romania with Four New Hotels
Radisson Hotel Group has announced ambitious expansion plans for Romania, revealing intentions to open four new hotels in Bucharest, Brasov, and Mamaia in the coming years.
Leading the charge is the Radisson RED Bucharest Old Town, poised to be the inaugural Radisson RED property in Romania. Set to debut in 2027, this 104-room hotel will breathe new life into a 1940s building that formerly housed the Institute of Hydroelectric Studies. The hotel, nestled in Bucharest's historic heart, will offer renowned Radisson RED amenities, including a restaurant, co-working lounge, outdoor terrace, and event spaces.
In the heart of Brasov, the Radisson Blu Grand Mountain Resort is slated for an early 2027 launch. Situated amidst the Carpathian Mountains, this resort promises to cater to adventure travelers with year-round offerings such as hiking, skiing, and biking, matched with luxury facilities such as a spa and gourmet dining.
Along Romania's Black Sea coast, the Radisson Blu Resort & Residences, Mamaia is scheduled to open in 2028. This upscale development will feature 234 rooms and 102 branded residences boasting sea views, as well as a spa, fitness center, presidential suites, and event spaces.
The Radisson Lagoon Hotel Bucharest will joining the Romanian scene as part of the Central District Lagoon City project, which will introduce an urban resort concept to Bucharest. This 323-room property will offer a man-made sandy beach, lagoon access, wellness facilities, and extensive food and beverage options for both business and leisure travelers.
Elie Younes, Executive Vice President & Chief Development Officer, expressed his optimism about Romania as a growing market for hotel development. He noted that the country's recent accession to the Schengen Area is anticipated to boost travel, trade, and tourism by eliminating border controls and facilitating easier movement of capital.
Radisson Hotel Group's existing Romanian portfolio encompasses notable properties such as the Radisson Blu Hotel and Park Inn in Bucharest, as well as hotels in Cluj and Brasov.
