Luxembourg becomes new residence for Tourism Minister Bunge - Relocating Tourism Head, Bunge, Shifts Base to Luxembourg
Bettina Bunge, the long-serving tourism chief of Schleswig-Holstein, has announced her departure to assume a new role as the managing director of the Luxembourg Convention Bureau (LCB) in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Starting November 1st, Bunge will be responsible for overseeing global marketing for the entire meetings and conventions sector in the country.
Bunge's extensive international experience in destination marketing, gained from her tenure at several tourist offices across Germany, makes her well-suited for this new venture. Prior to this, she has been the managing director of the Schleswig-Holstein Tourism Agency (TASH) since November 2017, where she has been instrumental in steering the tourism marketing and management towards a future-oriented direction.
Economy State Secretary Julia Carstens expressed regret at Bunge's decision but acknowledged the professionalism of her decision to step down. TASH is set to advertise Bunge's position in due course.
In 2024, Schleswig-Holstein recorded a record-breaking year with approximately 9.4 million guest arrivals and more than 38 million overnight stays, including camping, securing the fifth position among federal states.
Bunge's new role at the LCB aligns with its strategic renewal efforts to strengthen international partnerships, embrace digital transformation, and position Luxembourg as a leading destination for high-value professional events. Under her leadership, the organization plans to introduce a new strategy titled "MEET. CONNECT. ACCELERATE." to enhance Luxembourg's position as a hub for business events, leveraging its central location, accessibility, and modern infrastructure. Bunge's leadership aims to increase Luxembourg's international visibility and attract high-value events, further solidifying its role as a European hub for professional gatherings.
The announcement of Bettina Bunge's departure marks a shift in community policy, as she assumes the role of managing director at the Luxembourg Convention Bureau (LCB). With her new position, Bunge will aim to implement a transformative lifestyle in travel by introducing a strategic policy titled "MEET. CONNECT. ACCELERATE." to strengthen international partnerships, embrace digital transformation, and position Luxembourg as a leading destination for high-value professional events.
