Rent demand for houses in Transbaikalia increased by 46%

In the eastern Siberian region of Zabaykalsky Krai, a surge in interest for autocamping has been recorded, with rental demand for motorhomes rising by an impressive 46% over the past year, according to industry experts.

The growing popularity among local auto tourism enthusiasts has led to a preference for used campers and trailers, including those based on Toyota, Skif, and GAZ. The Toyota Dyna motorhome is the most sought-after model, whilst the Skif M2 trailer has seen a fourfold increase in demand. The average price for motorhomes and trailers in the region hovers around 350,000 rubles.

Interestingly, there's a high interest in homemade models, which account for approximately a third (29%) of the market and have experienced a 50% growth in demand over the same period.

The upsurge in the rental market is echoed across the Far East. The most active renters hail from the Khabarovsk Krai, Primorye, and the Amur Oblast, with all four regions witnessing a substantial increase in demand for mobile campers. The strongest growth is seen in the Amur Oblast (+127%), Buryatia (+122%), Primorsky Krai (+71%), and Zabaykalsky Krai - by 46%.

Regarding the broader market trends, popular models for autocamping often include the Volkswagen T6/T7 Multivan, Mercedes Sprinter, and Ford Transit. The cost for used campervans ranges from $10,000 to $30,000 USD, while new campervans can cost between $30,000 and $60,000 USD. DIY conversion kits can be had for anywhere from $5,000 to $20,000 USD.

The rising trend of homemade models in regions like the Zabaykalsky Krai is driven by cost-effectiveness, customization, and community support. Engaging in online forums and local groups is an effective way to learn from others and get tips on the conversion processes. Prudent budget management is crucial, considering factors like the base vehicle, conversion kits, and additional features.

This rise in autocamping popularity mirrors a broader interest in self-sufficiency and adventure travel, capitalizing on the region's extensive natural landscapes and the resilience of its residents.

The increasing popularity of autocamping in the Zabaykalsky Krai not only includes demand for traditional motorhomes, such as the Toyota Dyna, but also encompasses a growing interest in DIY-converted campers, reflecting a broader trend towards self-sufficiency and adventure travel. Furthermore, this lifestyle shift extends beyond just regional travel, with an increase in the rental of mobile campers seen across the Far East, including the Amur Oblast, Primorye, and Khabarovsk Krai.
