Saturdays are pleasantly spent in Wuppertal.
The board game industry is coming together to promote the cultural heritage of games in a nationwide event titled "Stadt-Land-Spielt!", which has been taking place every mid-September since 2013. This non-profit project aims to connect people and promote unity and inclusivity, reaching over 400 locations across the country this weekend.
In Wuppertal, the city library (Zentralbibliothek) and the association "Aufbruch am Arrenberg" are participating in the event. The library, located at Kolpingstraße 8, will host board game events from 9 am to 1 pm, with admission being free. No registration is required.
At the library, a variety of board games from publishers such as Amigo, Asmodee, Denkriesen, Game Factory, HABA, Hans im Glück Verlag, HeidelBÄR Games, Jumbo, KENDi, Kosmos, PegasusSpiele, Piatnik, Ravensburger, and SimbaToys with Zoch and Noris will be available. These publishers will offer a wide range of card, dexterity, or party games for children, families, and adults to try.
Meanwhile, "Aufbruch am Arrenberg" (Fröbelstraße 1A) in Wuppertal will host events from 1 pm to 8 pm. In addition to board games, attendees can enjoy waffles, pastries, and drinks, for a donation. Other partners of the project include the German Games Archive of the city of Nuremberg, the Games Center Herne, and the Drübberholz Games Center.
The board game industry is actively involved in supporting and promoting this project, with game publishers serving as main sponsors. The participating associations, supporters, municipalities, and game publishers share a common goal: to promote the cultural heritage of games and connect people beyond local or social origins, generations, and physical or psychological conditions.
Whether you're a games enthusiast, a family looking for a fun activity, or simply curious about the world of board games, "Stadt-Land-Spielt!" offers a unique opportunity to explore and enjoy a wide variety of games. So, come join the celebration and connect with others through the universal language of games!
