Sochi Tourism Surges in 2025: 6.5M Visitors, 90% Occupancy
Sochi, Russia's Black Sea resort, has seen a surge in tourism this year. From January to September, the city hosted over 6.5 million guests, with hotel occupancy reaching 90% during peak summer months. The average hotel occupancy in Sochi for the nine-month period was 78.8%. This summer alone, the city welcomed 4.5 million visitors, who enjoyed various events like the 600 mass events held during the season. These events attracted around 300,000 people. Looking ahead, approximately three million tourists are expected to visit Krasnodar Territory resorts during the velvet season, typically a milder period between late September and mid-November. Popular destinations include Gelendzhik, Tuapse, and other scenic beach areas. Sochi, Anapa, Gelendzhik, and Novorossiysk remain the most booked Black Sea directions. About 15% of these events took place in the mountain cluster. The high demand has extended into autumn. In September, hotel occupancy remained high, and bookings for October are at 63%. Sochi's tourism industry has shown remarkable resilience and growth this year. With the upcoming velvet season expected to attract around three million tourists to Krasnodar Territory resorts, the region continues to be a popular destination for both summer and autumn holidays.
