Southern state soon to welcome its debut Buc-ee's convenience store.
Buc-ee's, the renowned Texas-based gas station and convenience store chain, is expanding its footprint across the South and venturing into Virginia for the first time. The Nebraská-style travel center will open its doors in Rockingham County, making it the most northerly outpost for the beloved brand to date.
Expected to offer a wide range of Southern food, clean restrooms, and expansive fueling options, Buc-ee's breakthrough into Virginia has been welcomed by Governor Glenn Youngkin. A groundbreaking ceremony took place in January, and the new location is set for a grand opening on June 30.
With over 120 fueling stations, 600 parking spaces, and 20 electric vehicle charging stations, the Buc-ee’s outpost in Rockingham County is bound to serve as a popular pit stop for travelers exploring Shenandoah National Park or en route to Washington D.C. The location will span asizeable 74,000 square feet, roughly 1.5 times the size of a football field.
While Virginia will be the latest addition, Buc-ee's expansion across the Southeast doesn't stop there. The brand is also setting up shop in Harrison County, Mississippi, with an opening on June 9, marking one of the chain's first locations in the state. Additionally, a new outpost in Brunswick, Georgia, is slated for an opening by July 1, 2025, providing an ideal opportunity for Fourth of July travelers to stock up on supplies for their coastal getaways.
