The International Amateur Photographer of the Year 2025 competition has come to a close, showcasing an array of breathtaking landscapes from around the world. Here's a look at some of the standout entries.

Mike Morley from Harrogate Photographic Society submitted the image 'Hverfjall volcanic crater, Iceland', capturing the raw power and beauty of nature. Steve Taylor's image 'Forest giant, Borneo' received 45 points and featured a minimal composition with a wash of paler hues, transporting viewers deep into the heart of the rainforest.

John Seager, using a Canon RF 24-105mm F4-7.1 IS STM lens, made it into the top ten with his image. The image 'New day, new land' by an unidentified photographer, showcases an extraordinary sunrise scene of fissures opening up during the eruption at Litli-Hrutur in Iceland.

Mark Constable from Derby City Photographic Club submitted the image 'Sunrise reflection, Loch Leven', which was captured using a Nikon D850 with a 24-70mm at 32mm lens, 25sec at f/16, ISO 64. This image beautifully portrays the tranquillity of the Scottish Highlands at dawn.

Tim Burgess, shooting with a Sony A7R IV, also made it into the top ten with his image 'Alpine pasture, Alpe di Siusi'. The image transports the viewer to the scene of a magical Alpine pasture in Italy's Dolomites.

Hary Hammad from Pakistan won the International Young Amateur Photographer of the Year 2025 Close-Up & Details category with the image 'The orange landscape'. The image features autumnal trees and an orange sky, with a low-lying cloud that bisects the top part of the frame.

The image 'Fairy Pools, Isle of Skye' was captured by Janet Miles from Mid-Somerset Camera Club, using an Olympus E-M1 Mark II with a 12-100mm at 12mm lens, 24sec at f/10, ISO 64. This image showcases the ethereal beauty of the Fairy Pools, a series of crystal-clear pools on the Isle of Skye.

Colin Griffiths' image 'Sassi di Matera' received 80 points, and Lynn Pascoe's 'Clouds and mountains' received 70 points. Both images were captured using Sony cameras and showcase the stunning landscapes of Italy and the UK, respectively.

Mark Hetherington's image 'All roads lead to Rum' received 35 points and features an ultra-wide focal length emphasizing the sensation of rushing water leading to the distant island of Rum.

Rachel Riley's image 'Curlew and castle' received 30 points and was captured using a Canon EOS 90D with a 150-600mm lens. The image beautifully captures the silhouette of a curlew against a castle backdrop.

Ryszard Lomnicki from Ireland came in second place with the image 'Pine Island, Connemara'. The image was captured using a Sony A7R Mark III with a 12-24mm lens, 120sec at f/11, ISO 100, Haida Red-Diamond ND3.0 and GND0.9 filters.

Matteo Strassera from Italy won the International Amateur Photographer of the Year 2025 Landscapes competition with the image 'New day, new land'. The image was captured using a DJI Mavic 3 with a 24mm-equivalent lens, 1/50sec at f/8, ISO 100. This image showcases the raw power and beauty of nature, as a new day dawns over a volcanic landscape.

The competition has showcased the incredible talent of amateur photographers from around the world, and the stunning landscapes captured by these photographers are a testament to the beauty of our planet.
