Swedish Teens Arrive in Greifswald for Cultural Exchange

Fifteen Swedish teenagers and two teachers from Lund have arrived in Greifswald, Germany for an exchange programme. They will spend a week sharing experiences with local students from the Friedrich-Ludwig-Jahn-Gymnasium, with whom they have had a link since 2001.

The Swedish students, who have been learning German, are hosted by the Gymnasium in Lund. They arrived yesterday and spent the day exploring Greifswald city. Today, they were officially welcomed at the town hall. This afternoon, they will cycle together to Wieck and visit the historic Eldena monastery ruins.

During their stay, the visitors will live with host families to fully immerse themselves in daily German life. Planned excursions include a train ride to Berlin and a shared day on Usedom Island. In early October, the exchange will continue when Greifswald students visit Lund, with plans to hike through the Söderåsen nature reserve and visit Målmó.

The student exchange between Greifswald and Lund has been a regular occurrence since 2001, fostering cultural understanding and language learning. This week's visit promises a mix of education, adventure, and friendship, with both cities looking forward to the continued exchange.
