Tây Ninh Unveils Master Plan for Mộc Bài Border Gate Economic Zone
Tây Ninh province has unveiled an ambitious master plan for the Mộc Bài Border Gate Economic Zone, aiming to transform it into a modern industrial-urban hub and a vital trade gateway. The plan, which spans 21,284 hectares, is set to boost the province's economy and strengthen its integration into the Trans-Asian Economic Corridor.
The master plan envisions five functional zones within the economic zone: border-gate services, industrial and logistics areas, urban complexes, eco-tourism, and rural-agricultural zones. The Ho Chi Minh City Institute for Economy and Management, represented by its director Tran Quang Thang, is supporting the project.
The zone will be developed as a smart industrial-urban area, a logistics and financial centre, and a hub for international trade. The province will propose pilot policies for land, tax, and customs to attract investors and ease customs clearance. Infrastructure investment in the first phase is estimated at over VNĐ50 trillion ($2 billion).
The 2024 Border Trade Agreement and a bilateral promotion plan for 2025-2026 are expected to further boost trade between Vietnam and Cambodia, which has already tripled from US$3.4 billion in 2014 to US$10.1 billion in 2024.
The Mộc Bài Border Gate Economic Zone master plan is poised to drive sustainable growth and high-tech industries in Tây Ninh province. With strategic planning, investment in infrastructure, and supportive policies, the zone is set to become a vital trade gateway and a key player in the Trans-Asian Economic Corridor.
