Thailand Floods: Tropical Storm Bualoi Leaves Several Provinces Devastated
Heavy flooding has struck several provinces in Thailand, with the remnants of Tropical Storm Bualoi causing rivers to overflow and flash floods to occur. The hardest hit areas include Uttaradit, Phrae, and Loei, where homes, infrastructure, and farmland have been devastated.
In Uttaradit, the Khlong Tron reservoir's spillway overflowed, leading to severe flooding in Thong Saen Khan district, with water levels reaching 1.5 to 2 meters. Meanwhile, heavy overnight rains in Phrae's Muang district caused flash floods in tambon Pa Maet.
In Loei, flash floods affected 221 households, two roads, and a school across four districts, with Wang Saphung district being the most severely hit, as several roads were inundated. The Nabon-Kang Pla road in Muang district was washed away, and a school in Phu Luang district was flooded. Authorities have warned residents to stay alert for more flash floods, overflowing rivers, and landslides.
Floods caused by heavy rain and overflowing waterways are affecting communities in 22 provinces, mostly in the Central Plains and Northeast. Coordinated aid and relief efforts are underway by provincial authorities and local organizations to assist those affected by the floods.
