Top Halloween Costumes You Can Handmake in 2020
In the spirit of Halloween, let's take a journey through the years and explore a selection of imaginative and enthusiastic DIY costumes that have graced the festivities from 2010 to 2020.
In 2010, the couple costume was a nod to the iconic Stone Age duo, Fred and Wilma Flintstone. Fast forward to 2011, and one individual was off to Marfa, TX, in costume. The following year, the family costume was a political satire, with the Anthony Weiner Text Scandal serving as the theme.
The family costume in 2016 was a colourful and eclectic mix, featuring characters from Bob Ross' Happy Tree, Squirrel family, and a pregnant Waldo family of four, among others. The couple that year donned costumes inspired by Filter and No Filter, while Julia's baby was dressed as Baybel. Julia also created a family sushi costume for her family that year.
Moving on to 2017, the couple transformed into Double Stuffed Oreos and a Diaper box train. Cammy's family embraced the theme of 'Forrest Gump' with red Bubba Gump Shrimp hats, blue plaid button downs, and khaki pants. Maxwell, on the other hand, was a skeleton/pirate hybrid, sporting skeleton pajamas from Target and pirate accessories.
In 2018, the couple costume was a policeman and a unicorn, while a creative friend showcased an impressive Trump costume, complete with yellow hair, orange skin, white under the eyes, and a way too long red tie. The following year, Julia's baby was dressed as a shrimp on the Barbie, handmade by a friend of Julia's cousin, and won for the cleverest costume of 2020.
Mila, meanwhile, opted for the Easter Bunny in 2020, wearing a white long-sleeved leotard and bunny accessories. She carried an Easter basket instead of a trick or treat bag and handed out Easter eggs to kids. Lindsey from the Nanny League turned her twins into Carol Baskin and Tiger King for their 2020 family Halloween costume.
The year 2020 also saw Maxwell don skeleton/pirate attire, and Halloween was celebrated in a socially distanced manner, with candy scattered on sidewalks, candy sticks in the grass, and bagged candy.
