Tourists from Altai region significantly boost Vietnam visitation by 6 folds
Traveling abroad is on the rise among Russians, with a whopping 11% increase in the number of people venturing out during long weekends compared to last year. This surge in tourism demand has led to a massive 43% growth in international tours.
Turkey continues to be the top pick, but Vietnam is quickly catching up, claiming the title of the fastest-growing destination. Kazakhstan remains the most preferred destination in the Altai region, with a 23% rise in travelers compared to last year, followed by Turkey and Thailand. Georgia and Vietnam complete the top five, with a sixfold increase in tourists.
Turkey remains the leader in receiving Russian tourists overall, with 15% of all travelers visiting foreign lands during the May holidays. Belarus comes in second with 12%, while Kazakhstan takes the third spot with 8%. The top five also includes the UAE and Egypt. Notably, African countries, particularly Tunisia, Morocco, and Egypt, have seen a substantial increase in interest, with a 40% jump in tourists compared to last year.
Asia is also gaining popularity, with a significant increase in travelers to China, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, and Mongolia. Europe, on the other hand, has only seen a slight increase in tourist flow, while countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) attracted 22% more tourists this year.
A new road connecting Abakan in the Republic of Khakassia with Biysk in Altai Krai is poised to have a significant impact on Siberia's tourism, economy, and infrastructure.
