Turkey's "Night at the Museums" Reboot: An Evening Exploration of History and Culture

Gear up for a stirring night of education and history, as Turkey's revamped "Night at the Museums" program brings a multitude of cultural and historical institutions to life this summer. From June 1 to October 1, 2025, extend your day by visiting some of the most famous attractions, all whilst savoring the cooling evening breeze and escaping the afternoon heat.

This year’s itinerary boasts an impressive 27 locations, each providing a unique blend of rich history and local culture. Spotlighted venues will have varying closing times, with some staying open as late as 23:00, 22:00, and 21:00.

A quick glance into last year's success stories includes the ancient city of Ephesus in Izmir, where the Temple of Artemis lies in ruins – you'll have the opportunity to tour it until 23:00, but only on Saturdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Tourists were also captivated by the Nemrut Dagi Monument in Adiyaman and the Bodrum Underwater Archaeology Museum in Mugla, both exceptional destinations ready for revisiting. Just remember to double-check the closing times to ensure you don't miss out on any hidden gems!

  • Istanbul Archaeology Museums (except indoor areas): Until 10 p.m.
  • Hagia Sophia History and Experience Museum: Until 10 p.m.
  • Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts: Until 10 p.m.
  • Galata Tower: Until 11 p.m.
  • Ephesus (Wednesdays to Saturdays): Until 11 p.m.
  • Gaziantep Zeugma Mosaic Museum: Until 9 p.m.
  • Şanlıurfa Museum: Until 9 p.m.
  • Haleplibahçe Mosaic Museum: Until 9 p.m.
  • Erzurum Museum: Until 9 p.m.
  • Ankara Ethnography Museum: Until 9 p.m.
  • Bodrum's Museum of Underwater Archaeology: Until 10 p.m.
  • Temple of Apollo in Didim: Until 9 p.m.
  • Mount Nemrut (early morning visits): From 4 a.m. to 9 a.m.
