Beginning this weekend and continuing through June 1, Berlin's Museum Island will celebrate its 200th anniversary with a festive three-day event, aptly named "Inselfest." The Prussian Cultural Heritage Foundation (SPK) invites visitors to join in the celebrations, with numerous activities planned.

An open-air stage will be erected in the courtyard between the New Museum and the Old National Gallery, hosting a variety of performances from prominent Berlin cultural institutions such as the Deutsches Theater, Volksbühne, Berliner Ensemble, Staatsoper Unter den Linden, and Komische Oper.

Approximately 70 free guided tours will be offered, providing insights into the history, architecture, and collections of Museum Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1999. A day ticket for €14 grants access to all buildings in the historical ensemble and special exhibitions.

This weekend's festivities mark the first stage of a five-year program by the SPK to commemorate the 200th anniversary, encompassing various special exhibitions.

Museum Island, a celebrated cultural landmark, will showcase its diverse heritage and iconic architecture throughout the anniversary year. This includes numerous free guided tours and workshops focused on the site's history and collections, as well as a stage program in the Kolonnadenhof. The UNESCO World Heritage Day ceremony will take place on June 1, 2025, at 11 am.

Additionally, visitors can expect a colorful schedule of performances, workshops, and activities, providing a unique cultural experience for all who attend. Annual pass holders can bring one additional person free of charge, and children under 18 receive free admission.
