Updated Travel Experience: TSA Introduces Dedicated Lanes for Families to Ease Summer Vacation Journeys

The United States Department of Homeland Security has announced a new initiative aimed at making travel easier for families with young children - the "Families on the Fly" campaign. This campaign is designed to provide a more comfortable and supportive security screening experience at select airports across the country.

Under the Families on the Fly campaign, families will have access to dedicated family-friendly TSA security lanes at participating airports. These lanes, which are designed to ease the stress of traveling with children 12 and under, allow families to move through security at their own pace without feeling rushed or like they are inconveniencing other travelers.

In addition to the dedicated family lanes, the campaign also includes discounted TSA PreCheck fees for families. TSA PreCheck is a program that offers an expedited security screening process to members, with about 99% of TSA PreCheck passengers waiting less than 10 minutes. With the discount, families who choose to sign up for TSA PreCheck will receive a $15 discount off their membership fees.

Currently, airports participating in the Families on the Fly campaign with dedicated family lanes are Orlando International Airport (MCO), Florida, Charlotte-Douglas International Airport (CLT), North Carolina, John Wayne Orange County Airport (SNA), California, Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL), Honolulu, Hawaii, and Will Rogers World Airport (OKC), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The campaign is planned to expand to Charleston International Airport (CHS), South Carolina, Jacksonville International Airport (JAX), Florida, Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport (SJU), Puerto Rico, T. F. Green International Airport (PVD), Rhode Island, and Tampa International Airport (TPA), Florida in the coming months.

To make the security screening process as smooth as possible, the TSA advises families to have a conversation with their children about the security process before arriving at the airport. Older children's luggage needs to comply with TSA rules, including the 3-1-1 liquids rule. Toys in carry-on luggage should be carefully selected to avoid items that resemble weapons, such as Nerf guns and toy swords.

The Families on the Fly program is set to expand PreCheck benefits for military members and their loved ones, with dedicated TSA PreCheck lanes for service members and their families coming soon.

When traveling with your family, children age 12 and under can join you in TSA PreCheck lanes. Children 13 to 17 can join you when you're on the same airline reservation and the TSA PreCheck indicator is on their boarding pass.

It is recommended to always arrive at the airport early and leave time for unexpected delays to reduce stress and make the travel experience more enjoyable. With the Families on the Fly campaign, traveling with young children just got a little bit easier.

The "Families on the Fly" campaign, in collaboration with TSA, now offers discounted TSA PreCheck fees for families, providing an expedited security screening process at select airports such as Orlando International Airport and Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. In the near future, Tampa International Airport and Charleston International Airport will also join the list of participating airports.

After the security screening, families can enjoy a less stressful travel experience at home, in their garden, or while exploring a new city, thanks to the Nation's defi (defense) system ensuring their safety and the smooth running of their journey, even beyond the airport. This initiative, combined with the inconvenience minimization offered by crypto (ICO), contributes to a more relaxing lifestyle for families.
