Weekly Crusader Highlight: Julia Kane (April 25)
**Julia Kane: Holy Cross Student with a Passion for Community**
Julia Kane, a Political Science and International Studies major at Holy Cross, is a vibrant and active member of the college community. Her favourite spot on campus is the Rodino English Library, where she often spends hours engrossed in her studies.
Outside of academics, Kane is involved in a variety of campus activities. She is the Opinions editor for The Spire, a peer educator for SPEECH, and the Co-Chair of the CAB Music Board. Kane also works as an employee at Starbucks and serves as an Admissions Greeter, welcoming new students to the Holy Cross community.
In addition to her campus involvement, Kane is the Co-Chair of the Music Board for the College Activities Board (CAB). Her dedication to CAB has led to some unforgettable experiences, such as organising the Barricade for Spring concert 2024.
Kane's love for music extends beyond Holy Cross. She is an avid listener and enjoys a diverse range of genres, from Cage the Elephant to Lana del Rey. Her favourite songs include "West Coast" by Lana del Rey and "Who's Your Money On? (Plastic House)" by Inhaler.
When it comes to entertainment, Kane's taste is equally eclectic. Her favourite TV shows include Gilmore Girls, American Horror Story, Severance, and Ted Lasso. Her favourite movies are La La Land and The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Kane's favourite book is Pride and Prejudice, and she has a soft spot for light pink or dark green as her favourite colours.
Off campus, Kane has a few favourite spots. She enjoys dining at The Mercantile or Thai Time, and her morning routine includes solving the Daily NYT mini crossword and checking her email.
Kane has had some memorable experiences during her time at Holy Cross. One of her favourite memories is the Barricade for Spring concert 2024. However, she also cherishes the simpler moments, such as studying outside when the weather is sunny and having enough time to draw.
Looking forward, Kane hopes to travel after graduation and then work within Massachusetts State Government. Her words to live by are "Take it easy," inspired by the Eagles song.
Despite her many accomplishments, Kane is not immune to embarrassing moments. One such moment was when she accidentally answered a question in Spanish in her class right after Spanish class.
Kane hails from Wilmington, MA, and she looks forward to going home to see her family, her crazy dog Charm, and getting hummus toast from Pressed Cafe with her friends. She also cherishes her memories at her grandparents' condo in Laconia, NH, and some of her fondest memories at the Weirs Drive-In.
One thing Kane would change at Holy Cross is adding a fall concert in addition to the spring concert. Another item on her Holy Cross bucket list is going on a JCC retreat.
In her final year at Holy Cross (2027), Kane's favourite class was any Political Science class with Professor Langohr. Her favourite meal at Kimball is the everything-seasoned salmon with white rice and broccoli.
As Kane prepares to graduate and embark on her post-graduation plans, she leaves behind a lasting impact on the Holy Cross community. Her dedication, passion, and love for the college are evident in her involvement and achievements.
